We’re celebrating our 125th Anniversary!

Founded in 1897 in Excelsior, Minnesota, the company began as a small lumberyard called Lyman Lumber.
Today, the company has grown to eight locations with more than 1,100 associates across Minnesota and Wisconsin and serves
the needs of some of the largest builders and remodelers in the Twin Cities area. While the company has grown and evolved,
it is what has stayed the same that continues to drive Lyman’s success.

Our roots can be traced back to 1897 when Albert Lyman started a small lumberyard known as Lyman Lumber in Excelsior, Minnesota. Since then that small lumberyard has grown into several companies, but we are still a privately held corporation whose only business is providing goods and services to the residential construction industry.

In 2011, The Lyman Lumber Family of Companies was acquired by US LBM Holdings, LLC. US LBM is one of the fastest growing companies in our industry and is recognized as the 3rd largest building products distributor in the U.S. The US LBM model is to serve as a platform for further investments and acquisitions in the pro dealer market—preferably in partnership with current ownership/management. US LBM encourages those individual businesses to operate as autonomous local divisions while enjoying the capital and other resources of a much larger national organization.
