Training and Development
One of our goals is to provide all employees with the resources necessary to continuously develop their skills and continue their education. Employees may choose to attend any number of educational classes, seminars, and conferences, which are paid for by the Company. Some positions may require employees to attend such classes to ensure the employee's skills develop and grow as the industry changes and grows. While only select positions require this continuing education, all employees are encouraged to utilize the numerous training opportunities that are available.

We also offer a Tuition Reimbursement Program, which provides financial assistance to employees who wish to continue their formal education through an accredited college, university, or trade school. This is an excellent program to assist you in reaching your educational goals.

Advancement Opportunities
There are numerous opportunities for advancement within the Lyman organization, and we encourage all employees to explore these opportunities. We provide excellent training and education as well as a very effective job posting system in an effort to encourage and prepare our employees to explore new opportunities within Lyman Lumber & Affiliated Companies.

Jim Hurd is an excellent example of an individual that has taken full advantage of advancement opportunities. Jim is currently President of Lyman Lumber & Affiliated Companies; however, he held many other positions prior to being President. Jim started working with us as a yard worker during his college years. He did everything from yard clean up to assembling doors and trusses. Other positions on the ladder to Jim's success include: City Desk, Truss Engineer, Salesman, Assistant Branch Manager, Credit Manager, and Executive Vice President.
